Friday's match preview

The seven-match Twenty20 series between Pakistan and England is proving to be a delightful amuse-bouche before next month's T20 World Cup in Australia and Friday's sixth game should be another cracking contest.

Pakistan lead the series 3-2 after three-run and six-run wins in the last two matches, but bookmakers are struggling to pick a favourite for game six in Lahore and England are worth backing to set up a decider on Sunday.

White-ball captain Jos Buttler is unlikely to be risked as he continues his recovery from a calf injury, but Moeen Ali is an admirable understudy and his England side could easily be 4-1 up rather than 3-2 down in the series.

They won the first and third matches handsomely and were on the brink of winning the fourth game before losing their last three wickets for one run.

England's fast bowlers put them in a winning position in Wednesday's clash in Lahore, skittling Pakistan for 145 despite opener Mohammad Rizwan's fourth half-century in five games.

However, skipper Moeen, who hit four sixes in an unbeaten 51, was the only England batsman to find fluency on a tricky pitch and Pakistan closed out a narrow victory.

England's bowling attack looks far stronger with Mark Wood, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran fit again and left-armer Reece Topley could come back into the 11 for the sixth T20.

Topley and Wood achieved the rare feat of dismissing both prolific Pakistan openers Rizwan and Babar Azam cheaply in the third T20, setting up a 63-run romp for England.

The tourists will be desperate to pick up early wickets again and Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan is worth a small bet at a huge top-runscorer price.

Shadab came in at number eight on Wednesday, hit his first ball for six and was run out off the second delivery he faced but that cameo does not do justice to his batting talent. Batting at five, he top-scored with 36 against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup on September 7.

Shadab had a brilliant 2022 Pakistan Super League campaign, scoring 268 runs at a strike-rate of 162 in eight innings for Islamabad United, including 91 off 42 balls against Multan Sultans, and he is a value bet to star with the bat.
