The One-Day Cup starts on Tuesday and keeping tabs on player availability is half the battle for punters attempting to identify this summer's 50-over county champions.

The clash with The Hundred, the flagship event launched by the ECB last summer, means the One-Day Cup has lost much of its lustre and teams such as Surrey and Warwickshire will each be missing around a dozen senior players who are involved in the 100-ball competition.

One-Day Cup spectators can expect to see plenty of new faces in unfamiliar surroundings – Surrey start their campaign against Leicestershire at Guildford while Lancashire host Essex at Sedbergh School and Yorkshire take on Northamptonshire at York Cricket Club.

There will be a smattering of international stars on show. India all-rounders Krunal Pandya and Washington Sundar are set to play for Warwickshire and Lancashire while their compatriot Cheteshwar Pujara is at Sussex.

Uncertainty over personnel means the One-Day Cup is also a challenge for odds compilers and holders Glamorgan are well worth an each-way bet at 20-1.

The Welsh county are due to lose just one player to The Hundred as veteran paceman Michael Hogan was a wildcard pick for 2021 winners Southern Brave.

That means they have a more settled, streetwise squad than many of their rivals and there was no fluke about their success last term.

Glamorgan won four of their six completed matches in Group B, finishing top of the table ahead of Surrey and Yorkshire thanks to an excellent net run-rate.

In the semi-finals they chased down 290 to beat a strong Essex side featuring Alastair Cook, Tom Westley, Ryan ten Doeschate and Simon Harmer before an impressive 58-run win over Durham in the final.

Durham's 11 included Australia batsman Cameron Bancroft as well as Alex Lees and Matt Potts, both now in the England Test team, and Glamorgan, who are scrapping for promotion in Division Two of the County Championship, should go well again in the 50-over competition.
