Melbourne Renegades v Brisbane Heat Preview

Melbourne Renegades have made a positive start to the new Big Bash League campaign and will be looking to level their win tally from last season already with a win over Brisbane Heat on Wednesday.

The Renegades finished bottom of the pile in last season's Big Bash with only three wins from their 14 matches but already have two victories under their belt this time around.

The first of those came against Heat only last Thursday and they should be feeling confident when the teams reconvene, having since defeated Sydney Thunder by four wickets with a ball to spare.

Key for the Renegades in both of their wins has been the performances of skipper and opening batsman Nic Maddinson, who fired 87 against Brisbane last time out and made 39 against Thunder.

Maddinson posted only 128 in the Big Bash League last season but has started the new campaign on the front foot and, having overcome a bizarre ankle knock he picked up when celebrating a wicket against Thunder last time out, he is clear to play and can surpass his runs line of 21.5 with Coral and Ladbrokes.
