Tuesday preview

Something's got to give when Manchester Originals host Welsh Fire in The Hundred men's with both sides having started the tournament with three straight defeats.

The Originals, however, came close to recording their first win of the campaign on Saturday, finishing their innings against the Trent Rockets on 189-3 - the second highest total scored in the men's tournament.

The Rockets remarkably chased down that score but Manchester Originals showed signs of improvement and possess more quality at the crease than Welsh Fire, who could only make 126-5 in their latest defeat to Birmingham Phoenix.

Losing Jonny Bairstow this season is a huge blow for Fire, who won only one of their six games without him in 2021, and they are worth opposing at Old Trafford.

In the women's tournament, the Originals and Fire also got off to losing starts against the Rockets and Phoenix.

But Fire strengthened their batting options in the off-season with new captain Tammy Beaumont their most notable arrival.

Beaumont has been out of the picture for England's Twenty20 team since January but struck 139 runs in six innings in The Hundred in 2021 and can surpass a runs line of 21.5.
