Kiwi opener poses a threat to Australia
Pressure could bring out best in Guptill
Australia v New Zealand BT Sport 3, 3.20am
Two powerful batting displays gave Australia an unassailable 2-0 lead in their one-day series against New Zealand and the Aussies are 2-5 to complete a clean sweep at the MCG.
The Kiwis, missing Ross Taylor and Corey Anderson from their middle-order, crumbled under the pressure of imposing targets of 325 in Sydney and 379 in Canberra.
Their lack of batting depth has been exposed by some disciplined home bowling although they carry a threat at the top of the order with Martin Guptill striking the ball well.
The opener made back-to-back centuries for Auckland before joining up with the national side and scoring 114 out of 256 at the SCG, where only three of his colleagues reached double-figures.
Guptill smashed 45 off 33 balls at the start of the Canberra chase, hitting seven fours and a six, and he may enjoy another good game – especially if Australia choose to rest key paceman Mitchell Starc.
