Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Gujarat Titans prediction

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are one of three ever-present IPL franchises to have never been crowned champions but they have made a highly promising start in their attempt to shed their maiden tag at the 18th attempt.

The three-time runners-up have won their first two matches of 2025 – and in decent style, too.

In the opening match of the season RCB chased down a target of 175 against reigning champions Kolkata for the loss of only three wickets before they then restricted Chennai, the most successful franchise in IPL history with five titles, to 146-8 after posting 196-7 batting first.

Encouragingly for RCB's prospects, all of their top-order batsmen have contributed in the first couple of games and they will need that to continue given the weight of scoring already this season.

Prior to Tuesday's match between Lucknow and Punjab there had been six scores of more than 200 in the opening 12 matches and the average scoring rate in that time was 9.71 runs per over, equivalent to a 20-over total of 194.2, highlighting the importance of a fit-and-firing batting unit.

And Wednesday's clash with Gujarat could hinge on which set of batsmen get on top of the opposition bowling attack best.

Gujarat have won one and lost one of their opening matches but have already plundered 428 runs. The Titans fell 11 runs short in their pursuit of the Punjab Kings' mammoth 243-5 in their first match but 196-8 was more than enough to keep Mumbai at bay on Saturday, when the Indians ended on 160-6.

Given the likelihood of a high-scoring encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, a small interest on a century being scored could prove profitable.

Six of the record 14 tons scored in last year's IPL came courtesy of RCB legend Virat Kohli and Titans trio Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler, while Gujarat skipper Gill and Kohli both reached three figures in a Titans win over the Royal Challengers at this ground two years ago.
