Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders prediction

Rajasthan Royals made an ignominious start to the 2025 IPL campaign and they may struggle to turn things around against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in Guwahati on Wednesday.

The Royals conceded a colossal 286-6 in their opening defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, when England fast bowler Jofra Archer recorded the worst figures in IPL history: 0-76 from four overs.

One statistic underlining the scale of the Sunrisers' batting effort is that Rajasthan hit 18 sixes in their run-chase but still ended up losing by 44 runs.

The Knight Riders do not look as formidable as they did last season, when they finished top of the league table and bowled out the Sunrisers for just 113 in the final.

They may need time to find their best form after the departures of captain Shreyas Iyer, opener Phil Salt and paceman Mitchell Starc and they were outplayed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Saturday's seven-wicket defeat at Eden Gardens.

However, Rajasthan's bowlers could hardly have made a less impressive start to the season and they have lost prolific opener Jos Buttler, whose unbeaten 107 steered them to a thrilling two-wicket victory over KKR last season.

Kolkata made a strong start to their clash with RCB, racing to 107-1 inside the first ten overs, and they can take out their frustration on a Royals side reeling from Sunday's rout.
