After five straight defeats in the IPL, Rajasthan Royals are desperate to stop the rot when they host a Gujarat Titans side who have won six of their last seven games.

The Royals appeared to be cruising to victory in recent clashes with Delhi and Lucknow before losing to the Capitals in a Super Over and going down by two runs against the Super Giants.

On Thursday, chasing 206 for victory away to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan raced to 110-2 in nine overs but they buckled under pressure once again to lose by 11 runs.

The dismissal of wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, given out caught behind after a speculative review from RCB, was a crucial blow for the Royals.

After a slow start to his innings, Jurel made 47 off 34 balls with three fours and three sixes and he looks overpriced to top-score in a struggling batting unit.

He was pipped by Yashasvi Jaiswal's 49 in Bengaluru but started the season with 70 off 35 against Sunrisers Hyderabad and scored a breezy 35 not out, batting at number four, in this month's home defeat in Jaipur.

Gujarat look worthy favourites for a victory in Rajasthan, having thumped the Royals by 58 runs in Ahmedabad on April 9.

Openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill are two of the most consistent runscorers in the IPL and number three Jos Buttler gleaned plenty of local knowledge from his seven seasons as a Rajasthan player.
