Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders prediction

Shreyas Iyer captained Kolkata Knight Riders to IPL glory last season and he is hoping to inspire his new team, the Punjab Kings, to victory over the defending champions in Mullanpur.

Rookie opener Priyansh Arya's stunning innings of 103 off 42 balls set up Punjab's win over Chennai Super Kings in their last game at the venue but skipper Shreyas can lead from the front against his former side.

He has been bowled by a couple of sharp deliveries from Rajasthan's Jofra Archer and Chennai's Khaleel Ahmed in his first two outings in Mullanpur.

However, in his other three innings this season the classy number three scored 97 not out against Gujarat, 52 not out against Lucknow and 82 in Saturday's high-scoring defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Shreyas batted beautifully throughout India's triumphant Champions Trophy campaign in February and March and he should be backed to top-score for the Kings.

Kolkata have won three and lost three of their first six games although they looked back to their best in Friday's eight-wicket drubbing of lacklustre Chennai.

Spinners Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali took 6-55 between them in 12 overs as Chennai crawled to 103-9 but KKR's bowlers should expect more resistance from a power-packed Punjab batting unit.
