Lucknow Super Giants vs Punjab Kings prediction

Nicholas Pooran has scored 145 runs from just 56 balls in this season's IPL, hitting 13 sixes in two innings, and the Lucknow Super Giants star could put on another spectacular show against Punjab Kings.

Asked to explain the mechanics behind his six-hitting spree, Pooran said: "I've never worked on my bat speed, I'm just blessed with incredible talent".

That confidence should concern Punjab's bowlers, especially as Pooran's last two knocks against the Kings were 45 from 19 deliveries and 42 off 21 balls.

He smashed 75 against Delhi Capitals and 70 against Sunrisers Hyderabad this season and, while his aggressive approach means the occasional failure is inevitable, he is well worth backing at double-figure odds to be named player of the match.

Another big-priced selection who merits support is Shashank Singh to be Punjab's top runscorer.

The Kings have a wealth of batting talent including new captain Shreyas Iyer, who made 97 not out in their opening win over Gujarat Titans.

Shashank came in at number seven to clout an unbeaten 44 off just 16 balls and he is a dangerous floater in the Punjab batting order.

He was the Kings' most prolific batsman last season, scoring 354 runs at a strike-rate of 165, and his batting feats included unbeaten scores of 61 not out off 29 balls against Gujarat and 68 off 28 against champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
