Kolkata Knight Riders host Punjab Kings on Saturday and the Kings have produced record-breaking performances in the last two meetings between the IPL rivals. 

In last season's clash at Eden Gardens, Jonny Bairstow's century powered Punjab to 262-2 in 18.4 overs – the highest target chased down in T20 history.

Earlier this month, the Kings' bowling attack stole the show as Punjab clinched a 16-run victory in Mullanpur despite being bowled out for only 111.

That was the lowest total successfully defended in 18 seasons of the IPL and Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer is aiming to complete a double over his former franchise.

Shreyas led KKR to the trophy in 2024 but the Knight Riders' title defence has started with five defeats in eight games.

Their lack of bite with the new ball has cost them recently as Gujarat and Lucknow, the last two visitors to Eden Gardens, had first-wicket stands of 114 and 99.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli scored 56 and 59 not out in the first game of the season in Kolkata and Punjab should be backed to make a strong start with the bat.

The Kings' top two Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh have put on 42, 22, 39 and 66 in Punjab's last four games and Prabhsimran smashed 54 off 20 balls in last season's victory at Eden Gardens.
