Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad prediction

Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad three times during their 2024 IPL triumph which was sealed by an eight-wicket rout of the Sunrisers in the final.

Both teams have lost two of their first three games this term and faltering champions Kolkata are slight outsiders to defeat Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on Thursday.

Last season's fixture at the Kolkata venue produced a high-scoring thriller as KKR narrowly defended a target of 209 in a match featuring 29 sixes.

Kolkata were well beaten by Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens on the opening night of the 2025 campaign when RCB openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli made speedy half-centuries.

Sunrisers opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed cheaply in both playoff clashes with KKR last season and he has had a frustrating start to the new campaign.

After cracking 24 off 11 balls as Hyderabad racked up 286-6 in their opening win over Rajasthan Royals, Abhishek made only six against Lucknow Super Giants and was run out for one in Sunday's defeat to Delhi Capitals.

He enjoyed his last visit to Eden Gardens, however, hitting eight sixes in a 34-ball 79 in India's T20 win over England on January 22.

The left-hander signed off that series with a stunning 135 off 54 deliveries in Mumbai and he should be backed to make his first major contribution of the 2025 IPL season.
