Gujarat Titans vs Punjab Kings prediction

After winning the IPL in their maiden season in 2022 and reaching the final in 2023, Gujarat Titans suffered a significant fall from grace last year.

Shubman Gill's side finished eighth in the ten-team league table as they failed to match the destructive batting of their rivals.

The Titans hit only 67 sixes in the 2024 IPL – Lucknow Super Giants' 102 was the second-lowest tally – although overseas arrivals Jos Buttler and Glenn Phillips should add power to their top order.

However, Gujarat's opening opponents Punjab Kings are well worth backing to hit the most sixes in Tuesday's clash in Ahmedabad.

The Kings finished one place below the Titans last season, losing nine of their 14 matches, but the signing of Kolkata Knight Riders' title-winning captain Shreyas Iyer looks a real coup.

Iyer joins a power-packed batting unit featuring Australian trio Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis and hard-hitting Indians Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya and Shashank Singh.

The impressive Shashank struck 21 maximums from just 215 balls in last season's IPL and his unbeaten 61 off 29 powered Punjab to a thrilling three-wicket victory over the Titans in Ahmedabad.

The Kings hit eight sixes to Gujarat's five that day, also winning the maximums battle 5-2 in the return fixture in Mullanpur, and they are a tempting bet to repeat the feat in their 2025 season opener.
