Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians prediction

Mumbai Indians finished bottom of last season's IPL and they have started the new campaign on the back foot, losing their opener by four wickets against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.

Their next opponents Gujarat Titans also lost their first match of the season against Punjab Kings but the Titans look  more likely than Mumbai Indians to bounce back when they face each other in Ahmedabad.

Mumbai lost ten of their 14 IPL fixtures in 2024 and the five-time champions have not won the competition since 2020, placing fifth, tenth, fourth and tenth in the subsequent four campaigns.

They have long been in a period of transition and, while they will welcome back skipper Hardik Pandya from suspension for this contest, Mumbai remain without paceman Jasprit Bumrah, hindering their bowling options.

At the crease, meanwhile, Tilak Varma's knock of 31 was their top score against Chennai last time out and they are shorter on big hitters than Gujarat, who reached 232-5 in their 11-run loss to Punjab Kings on Tuesday.

Gujarat Titans can call on Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford among others and that added quality in their batting lineup should see them over the line.

They beat Mumbai Indians by six runs when these sides met in Ahmedabad last season as Mumbai collapsed from 107-2 to 162-9 and the Titans are overpriced to repeat that result on Saturday.
