Friday's Big Bash League preview

The battle for the playoff places in this season's Big Bash League looks set to go down to the wire and Friday's clash between Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes could play a significant role in the division's outcome.

Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers lead the way in this year's BBL and are in pole position for the top two spots but the other three places remain up for grabs.

The addition of Australians Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne and Matt Renshaw to their roster has turned around the fortunes of Heat, who have picked up back-to-back wins this week.

As for the Hurricanes, they had also strung together consecutive wins before defeat to the Scorchers last time out and this is a tough one to call with both sides on the up.

Instead, a player bet makes appeal with Hurricanes bowler Nathan Ellis worth chancing to pick up a couple of wickets.

Ellis has been key to the Hurricanes revival, taking 4-27 in the win over Sydney Thunder and 2-12 in the victory against Melbourne Stars, and can again cause problems with the ball.
