Match preview

England Women, winners of the last World Cup in 2017, were in a precarious position after losing their first three matches of the 2022 tournament but things are looking far brighter for Heather Knight's side now.

Wins over India and New Zealand, two of the other teams bidding to join red-hot favourites Australia in the semi-finals, mean England's campaign is back on track and they will reach the last four if they beat outsiders Pakistan and Bangladesh in their last two league fixtures.

Pakistan's surprise win over the West Indies boosted England's qualification chances and ended a run of 18 consecutive defeats at World Cups for the underdogs.

They can expect no mercy from the fired-up holders in Christchurch, however, and England opener Tammy Beaumont could lead the charge for the 1-12 favourites.

She started the tournament with scores of 74 against Australia, 46 against the Windies and 62 against South Africa and an opposition opener has top-scored in three of Pakistan's last four matches.
