England vs West Indies second T20 prediction

Jos was boss in the first of three T20 internationals with West Indies as his contribution of 96 guided England to a 21-run victory at Chester-le-Street on Friday, and Brendon McCullum’s men are 2-5 to make it two from two and wrap up the series in Bristol.

Jos Buttler stole the show in the opening exchange with a near-century featuring six fours and four sixes, and forecast good weather should help provide a high-scoring encounter on Sunday.

England looked on course to bust 220 at one point in Friday’s dust-up before the wickets started to fall and they are not guaranteed to follow up, especially given the Windies are likely to make some tactical tweaks including a return for Matthew Forde.

Going over the total of first-innings runs, currently set at 191.5, makes some appeal and even more so if England, who had the big-hitting Will Jacks coming in as low as seven two days ago, were to bat first.

However, a chance can be taken on opener Jamie Smith getting England off to a flyer, whether they set the pace or chase.

Smith impressed in the opening affair, setting the tone with 38 runs off 20 balls, and his aggressive style could soon wreak havoc against the Windies bowling attack.

That innings followed a knock of 64 in the third ODI with West Indies when England required only requiring 246 to win. Their innings was played in T20 style and he finished as top runscorer from just 28 balls that he faced.

Having also made 37 in the opening ODI, the 24-year-old is clearly in fine fettle and, having not initially been set to take the opening role until he capitalised from Phil Salt's withdrawal, he should be keen to impress the selectors.

Understated spinner Liam Dawson was a clever pick for the pitch at Durham's Riverside He took 4-20 and it would be tough to drop him for this second showdown so he could be of interest in England’s top wicket-taker market at 4-1.
