Cook bidding to kick on at Edgbaston
But Windies may not be blown away
First Test: day two
Sky Sports Cricket, resumes 2pm Friday
Alastair Cook failed to make the most of his starts in the Test series against South Africa but he is 5-4 with bet365 to pass 220 in England's first innings against the West Indies at Edgbaston.
Cook batted through the first day of the first day-night Test match in England and he resumes on 153 out of the home side's 348-3.
Bet365 offer 2-1 that he is dismissed for under 180, and the same price that he scores between 180 and 220.
It's a big day for the other not-out batsman Dawid Malan, who reached 28 in the final session at Edgbaston, and Paddy Power offer 5-6 over/under 53.5 runs for the Middlesex man.
Sky Bet's first-innings runs line for England is 592.5 (10-11 over/under) but they may have underrated the tourists' batting with their line of 230.5.
Cook and Joe Root made the pitch look pretty placid on day one and, while the England bowlers know the conditions far better than their West Indian counterparts, the Windies bat deep.
Wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich, who has scored five fifties in 20 Test innings, is due in at number seven while number eight Jason Holder scored a century against England in 2015.
Heavy rain is forecast from around 6pm in Birmingham so the Windies may have to wait until day three to start their first innings.
It's damage-limitation for the tourists, with England 1-8, the draw 6-1 and the Windies 66-1, but their middle-order men can make England work hard for wickets.
Recommendation
West Indies to score 231 or more in first innings
