Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru prediction
The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is renowned as a safe haven for IPL spinners and the venue lived up to its reputation in Sunday's game between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
Chennai spinner Noor Ahmad put the skids on the visitors with a spell of 4-18 from four overs and the Super Kings comfortably chased a target of 156 despite three wickets for Mumbai slow bowler Vignesh Puthur on his IPL debut.
Spin could hold the key to Friday's clash between Chennai and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who eased to a seven-wicket win against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in their opening game.
RCB spinner Krunal Pandya was named player of the match at Eden Gardens, having claimed the key wickets of Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh.
The experienced left-armer had a quiet 2024 campaign for Lucknow Super Giants, although he recorded his career-best IPL figures of 3-11 against Gujarat.
Krunal should take great confidence from an excellent RCB debut and new captain Rajat Patidar also enjoyed their season opener.
Patidar's 16-ball 34 helped his side seal victory with 22 balls to spare and his destructive hitting against slow bowlers could be crucial in Chennai.
He launched KKR's star spinner Sunil Narine for a 91-metre maximum on Saturday and struck 22 sixes from the 109 balls that he faced from spinners last season.
