India vs New Zealand prediction

More than two weeks have elapsed since New Zealand opened up the Champions Trophy with an emphatic win over hosts Pakistan and on Sunday they will compete in the final against ante-post favourites India.

Targeting a third Champions Trophy crown, India are as short as 4-11 to come out on top, having benefited from unique geographical setup in the tournament.

While the other teams involved have played their matches in Pakistan, India's political tensions with the host nation have meant they have been stationed in Dubai, where they have reeled off wins over Bangladesh, Pakistan, New Zealand and Australia.

India were 44-run winners when they met the Black Caps in the group stage, bowling out their opponents for just 205 as the Kiwis struggled to adjust to the spin-friendly conditions of the UAE.

Playing at the same venue for every match was always going to give India an advantage but they have not allowed complacency to set in and there have been strong performances throughout the team, with veteran Virat Kohli shining.

There have been suggestions that Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma, could announce his retirement from ODIs after this tournament and he can go out with a bang.

One of the best ODI players of all time, Kohli often saves his best performances for key matches, top-scoring with an unbeaten 100 against rivals Pakistan in the group stage before blasting 84 against Australia in the semi-finals.

He made only 11 when these sides met in the group stage but India were already through by that point and, having averaged 57.1 against New Zealand in ODIs, he can sign off in style in Dubai.
