Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Chris Lynn returned to his destructive best against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday and the Australian star is worth backing to be similarly devastating when KKR face Kings XI Punjab.

Lynn began the IPL season with 93 not out and 32 before injury ruled out the 27-year-old for the bulk of Kolkata’s group-stage matches. But he showed no signs of rust when he took to the crease for the first time in almost a month, striking a 21-ball 50 as he and opening partner Sunil Narine put the Bangalore bowlers to the sword.

Lynn’s captain Gautam Gambhir described the Aussie as “the hardest hitter in the world” and the stats back up the Kolkata skipper’s claims.

Lynn starred once again for Brisbane Heat in the 2016-17 Big Bash League, scoring a colossal 309 runs from five innings at an average of 154.50 before the Australian national team came calling. He has been missed by Kolkata but the Knight Riders look set to make the final four and Lynn should be a major factor as they chase IPL glory.
