Bangladesh vs India prediction

India's build-up to this year's Champions Trophy has been anything but straightforward but they can demonstrate why they are outright favourites when they take on Bangladesh in Dubai on Thursday.

While the rest of the Champions Trophy will take place in Pakistan, India will play their matches in the UAE due to political tensions with the tournament hosts.

They were also dealt a blow when key bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out with a lower back injury but they can cope without the paceman, starting with a commanding performance against Bangladesh, who are ranked ninth in the world in ODIs.

While the India bowling attack will undergo some tinkering, the batting lineup is formidable and Shubman Gill should be at the forefront of a potential title charge.

Gill is yet to effectively break on to the Test scene for India but in ODIs, he is one of the best around.

He averages a remarkable 60.16 across 50 ODIs for his country and he looked sharp in India's 3-0 whitewash of England prior to this tournament.

Gill blasted 87, 60 and 112 in that series and he will have fond memories of his last ODI against Bangladesh, having struck 53 in Pune, so back him to be India's top runscorer.
