Australia v South Africa second Test preview
The latest instalment of Australia's fierce Test rivalry with South Africa lasted less than two days as the Proteas were bowled out for 152 and 99 on a treacherous pitch at the Gabba.
South Africa's inexperienced batsmen will be hoping for a slightly easier ride in the second Test in Melbourne although last year's visitors England were skittled for 68 in their second innings with debutant Scott Boland claiming 6-7.
Boland has taken 25 wickets in five Tests at an average of 10.36 but is still not a guaranteed starter as Josh Hazlewood is fit again and Australia's bowlers are 1-3 to fire them to a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Travis Head was the only home batsman to distinguish himself at the Gabba, scoring a superb 92 off 96 balls, and the number five should be backed to reach 50 in the first innings of the second Test.
Head made 99, 175 and 38 not out in three Test innings against the West Indies at the start of December and cracked 152 off 130 balls in last month's ODI win over England at the MCG.
Monday's early Big Bash game (Sky Sports Cricket, 7.05am) sees Sydney Sixers take on Melbourne Stars. Both teams have won one and lost two of their first three matches and the Sixers are 8-11 favourites.
