Match preview

Australia and South Africa start the Super 12 phase of the Twenty20 World Cup in Abu Dhabi and punters could be treated to a pulsating affair.

Both of these teams go into this tournament with points to prove after Australia failed to make the knockout stage of the 2016 tournament while South Africa have long struggled to make an impact in white-ball formats.

But the Proteas are an intriguing bet at odds-against in this contest given how much T20 cricket they have played in 2021.

They beat the West Indies 3-2 in the Caribbean earlier in the year and have also enjoyed whitewash victories over Ireland and Sri Lanka more recently.

AB de Villiers may not have made a return to the team but in Quinton de Kock they have a lethal limited-overs batsman while Kagiso Rabada is one to keep an eye on in top wicket-taker markets.

Opponents Australia are favourites but captain Aaron Finch has only recently returned from a knee injury while there are also doubts surrounding the sharpness of David Warner.

South Africa could capitalise on those deficiencies and start the tournament on the front foot with a win.
