Australia's home season of international fixtures began with an unwanted record as a crushing defeat against South Africa stretched their losing streak in ODIs to seven.

That is the worst run of results in the Aussies' history, yet they are still slight favourites to beat the Proteas at the Adelaide Oval in the second of the three-match series.

The hosts make little appeal given their struggling batting line-up and South Africa's high-class bowlers, who dismissed Australia for just 152 in the first ODI.

One Australian player who could make an impact is all-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile and he can be backed to eclipse bet365's performance points line of 34.5 with one point awarded per run, ten per catch and 20 per wicket.

Coulter-Nile is in good nick with the bat, scoring 34 and 27 in the Twenty20 series against Pakistan and 34 in the first ODI, when he also took the wicket of South Africa opener Quinton de Kock.

His only previous ODI in Adelaide produced a performance make-up of 75 against England in 2014 and he is a fine fielder, pouching six catches in his last 12 one-dayers.

Recommendation
N Coulter-Nile over 34.5 performance points
2pts 5-6 bet365
