Adelaide Strikers v Sydney Thunder preview

Sydney Thunder were bowled out for 15 – the lowest total in men's professional Twenty20 cricket history – against Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash on Friday and they face the Strikers again on Tuesday morning.

The Thunder's extraordinary collapse took only 5.5 overs as Adelaide quicks Harry Thornton (5-3) and Wes Agar (4-6) ripped through their hosts' batting line-up at the Sydney Showground Stadium.

The Sydney franchise were chasing a modest target of 140 but ended up losing by 124 runs although their batsmen restored some pride on Sunday, racking up 174-6 against Melbourne Renegades.

Even that score wasn't enough to stop the rot, though, as Aaron Finch's unbeaten 70 fired the Renegades to a tense four-wicket win and the Strikers are 8-11 to deepen the gloom in the Thunder camp with victory at the Adelaide Oval.

Australia all-rounder Daniel Sams has impressed with the ball for the Thunder this season, following up figures of 2-21 and 2-23 in his first two Bash appearances with three wickets, including the big scalp of Andre Russell, against the Renegades.

Sams has not come to the party with the bat yet, being dismissed for three, one and one, but the Thunder should persist with him at number five or six as he can be a brutal hitter on his day.

He cracked 41 off 15 balls in a T20 international against New Zealand last year, has a Big Bash best of 98 not out off 44 against the Renegades in January, and is worth a bet at 10-1 to be named player of the match.
