Premier 1, from midnight Thursday

Uruguay v Japan

Uruguay got off to a flying start in the Copa America, defeating Ecuador 4-0, and they should stay on the winning trail against Japan although a smaller margin of victory seems likely.

Japan head coach Hajime Moriyasu gambled by taking a young squad to Brazil and their inexperience showed in a 4-0 loss to Chile in Porto Alegre.

It is likely the Blue Samurai will suffer three defeats but Moriyasu will want them to be more competitive in the remaining games.

They got to 80 minutes of the Chile game at just 2-0 down and would probably settle for a narrow loss to the Uruguayans, who are strong candidates to reach the final.

Oscar Tabarez's side had an easy opener against Ecuador, who had defender Jose Quintero sent off in the 24th minute, but may have to work a little harder for goals against the Japanese, who could improve a little with each game.

Recommendation
Uruguay and under 3.5 goals
