Confident Queen of the South look a cracking bet

Former Swansea striker Stephen Dobbie is a big hit in Scotland

Queen of the South have been the success story of the Ladbrokes Championship this term and they can carry on their good run with a win at Livingston.

Former Everton and Scotland full-back Gary Naysmith continues to do a decent job in Dumfries and his side are playing some good football.

They blew away Falkirk 4-1 on their travels in their last league game and followed that up with a 5-0 demolition job at Berwick Rangers in the Challenge Cup.

Central to their success has been the performance of Stephen Dobbie. The experienced ex-Swansea forward is widely recognised as the best striker in the league and he has netted five goals in those last two games.

But players such as Callum Fordyce and Lyndon Dykes have also been in fine form for South.

Newly-promoted Livi are decent enough but they could struggle against their visitors, who are full of confidence.

Aberdeen will fancy their chance of making it five out of five in the Ladbrokes Premiership when they travel to the capital to face Hearts.

With Tynecastle still out of action due to a delay in the building of their new main stand, the game is being played at the home of Scottish rugby at Murrayfield.

So although technically a home game for Hearts, it’s a neutral venue and the Dons will be backed by upwards of 7,000 away fans – the biggest away support in the UK this weekend.

Derek McInnes enjoyed a superb transfer window. Where many assumed the Pittodrie side would be significantly weakened by the departures of Jonny Hayes and Niall McGinn, they appear to actually improved the squad with the arrivals of Stevie May, Greg Stewart and several others.

They’ve started the league season on fire, topping the table, and will be confident of ruining Craig Levein’s second debut as manager of Hearts.

He’s still got most of Ian Cathro’s team and it is difficult to see them containing a Dons side who are scoring for fun.

St Mirren are strong at home and they can beat Inverness in Paisley.

Before the international break, they dismantled Championship title favourites Dundee United.

Star midfielder Lewis Morgan was an absolute stand-out for Scotland Under-21s in this week’s impressive victory against Holland.

And with John Robertson still trying to get his new-look side to gel in the Highlands, Saints will be confident of maintaining their promotion push.
