Match preview

The Ben Roethlisberger era in Pittsburgh is drawing to a close and the Steelers will be desperate to deliver a fitting home finale for their legendary quarterback by running the Cleveland Browns close in a crunch contest.

The AFC North divisional rivals find themselves on the fringes of the playoff race and in desperate need of a win to keep their hopes alive.

Three defeats from the last four games have dropped the Browns to 7-8 and opposing them on Big Ben's big night could prove a shrewd move.

Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield is unlikely to light up Pittsburgh up after tossing four interceptions in a narrow loss to the Green Bay Packers last week. Mayfield’s performance was so bad in that game that inactive teammates took to social media to vent their displeasure.

The locker room is on the verge of getting toxic, and Cleveland’s defence isn’t anything to write home about either.

Pittsburgh have already beaten the Browns in Cleveland, and they completely shut down running back Nick Chubb in that match, despite their defence having had its fair share of issues against the run.

It's hard to justify the Browns' tag as favourites for this fixture given their form at the moment. If Roethlisberger has anything left in the tank, it’ll come out here and it's hard to see Pittsburgh losing by more than a field goal if they do fall to a loss.

We should see an all-out effort here, and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has always been lights out when not starting a match as favourites. In fact, the Steelers are 18-6-2 against the spread the last 26 times they’ve been a home underdog.
