Classy Mann can make life tough for Liang
Seeded Fu ought to outclass Zhao
BBC & Eurosport, 1pm & 7pm Saturday
Liang Wenbo reached the final of the Betway UK Championship two years ago and the Chinese ace has started well enough in this year's tournament, but he may come under fire in a second-round clash against Mitchell Mann.
Liang made light work of defeating Sanderson Lam 6-1 in his York opener, but Mann has much more potential than Lam and could be good enough to keep tabs on the world number 16.
Mann's game looked in decent order in a 6-2 dismissal of Stuart Carrington in round one. The Birmingham cueman could go close to upsetting his more illustrious opponent and looks worth a bet with a start of 3.5 frames.
Marco Fu opened with a positive 6-2 victory over veteran Nigel Bond and the Hong Kong star could receive more of a test from Zhao Xintong.
Zhao is not the best of the many Chinese players on the circuit, but what he lacks in star potential he makes up for in terms of effort.
Fu is not always a player to rely on, but he will not want this one to go to a decider and can be supported to successfully concede a start of a frame and a half to Zhao.
Lyu Haotian, a semi-finalist in Belfast last week, made light work of ousting Anthony Hamilton 6-1 in the last 128 and his second-round foe Peter Ebdon could have his work cut out at the Barbican Centre.
