Match preview
Baltimore are right in the Super Bowl mix at 10-1 for outright glory and boasting a 5-1 record at the top of the AFC North, but their strong form means opponents Cincinnati are going into this clash somewhat under the radar.
The Bengals have been no less impressive this season, and while a lot of the attention has focused on quarterback Joe Burrow, their defence has been the key area where Cincinnati have quietly made significant progress.
In particular they have been good against the run, and that will be how the Ravens will want to play them.
Cincinnati have lost two games – only one more than their opponents – and both of those reverses have come by a margin of three points, so a spread of 6.5 points looks generous.
Baltimore have looked susceptible to the big play in their secondary, and just two weeks ago they got shredded for over 400 yards by Indianapolis QB Carson Wentz.
Playing on the road shouldn’t be an issue for the Bengals - they have already won 24-10 at Pittsburgh while they racked up a 34-11 success at Detroit, the same Detroit who Baltimore could edge only 19-17 thanks to a walk-off 66-yard field goal a few weeks ago.
The Ravens got past Kansas City by a single point at home the week before that, and it looks as if last week’s big win over the LA Chargers is at the forefront of bookmakers’ minds when setting the line for this clash.
And if it’s going to be close, it could also be low-scoring.
