Match preview

All three Champions League meetings between Manchester United and Paris St-Germain have been won by the away team and PSG are worth backing to extend that trend at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford has played the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer role in United's last two clashes with the French champions, scoring crucial late goals in the last-16 tie in 2018-19 and this season's 2-1 win in Paris.

But PSG outclassed the Red Devils in the first leg of that knockout tie, winning 2-0 at Old Trafford and restricting United to just one shot on target, and their attacking stars should relish a crack at the home defence.

Despite guiding PSG to the Champions League final last season, Thomas Tuchel is under pressure after a patchy start to their domestic and European campaigns.

However, they are still top of Ligue 1, despite losing 3-2 at Monaco and drawing 2-2 at home to Bordeaux in their last two games, and Neymar's early penalty gave them an important 1-0 win over RB Leipzig on matchday four.

The Brazilian, along with France World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe, missed the away defeat to Leipzig on matchday three but the pair are fit and firing for the trip to Manchester.

After the draw with Bordeaux, Neymar said that PSG would have to be at their best to win at Old Trafford but that may not be true given some of United's performances at home this season.

They lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace before a 6-1 walloping by Tottenham and dour displays in a 0-0 draw with Chelsea, a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal and a 1-0 win over lowly West Brom when they needed a twice-taken penalty from Bruno Fernandes to break the deadlock.

United's home Champions League games have been a different story with a 5-0 win over Leipzig followed by a 4-1 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir, who had stunned them 2-1 in Turkey on matchday three.

Opposing teams still know they will get chances against Solskjaer's side, who had to battle back from 2-0 down to beat Southampton 3-2 on Sunday.

Former PSG striker Edinson Cavani's brace at St Mary's may earn him a start against his old pals while ex-United men Ander Herrera and Angel Di Maria should line up for the visitors.

It promises to be another compelling contest between two talented but flawed teams but PSG's cutting edge up front could prove too much for their hosts.

Key stat

Manchester United have kept three clean sheets in 13 Premier League and Champions League games this season.
