Liverpool are through to the Champions League quarter-finals after beating Bayern Munich 3-1 in Germany, joining fellow Premier League clubs Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United in the last eight.

The tie was on a knife-edge after a drab goalless draw in the first leg at Anfield, but Sadio Mane put gave the Reds the lead with a sublime piece of skill in the first half, and although Bayern equalised they rarely looked capable of taking the game away from Liverpool, who sealed their passage with a second-half header from Virgil van Dijk and another from Mane.

Liverpool, runners-up last season, are 5-1 to lift the Champions League trophy at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium on June 1.

Joining them in Friday's quarter-final draw will be Barcelona, who thrashed Lyon 5-1 at Camp Nou with Lionel Messi bagging a brace.
