Champions League favourites Manchester City sent out a warning note to their rivals as they overpowered Schalke 7-0 to book their place in the quarter-finals, but Atletico Madrid suffered a stunning reverse at the hands of Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus.

Leading 3-2 from the first leg in Germany, City wasted no time in putting the tie to bed as a brace from Sergio Aguero and a Leroy Sane strike put them 3-0 up at the break.

Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva got their names on the scoresheet in the second half and City remain top of the pile at 9-4 to lift the trophy for the first time.

But Atletico Madrid, who had been 8-1 third favourites behind City and Barcelona and were 2-7 to qualify for the last eight having taken a 2-0 lead over Juventus in the first leg, were beaten 3-0 in the second leg in Turin as Ronaldo claimed a hat-trick.

The Serie A side are now 9-2 to reign over Europe, with Barca at 24-5 and then Liverpool and Bayern Munich next in the betting at 10-1.
