Capable Cork could batter crippled Bray
St Patrick's look value
Cork City should breeze past Bray Wanderers and they make considerable appeal to take the points with at least two goals to spare.
Bray's financial woes have crippled the club, key players have left and they barely trained for two weeks before their humiliating defeat against struggling Bohemians last week. Cork can go top if they win, having hit Derry for five on Monday.
Cork beat Bray 4-0 in both of their encounters this season. Bray, whose manager Martin Russell quit before the Bohs game, are in a terrible state, so anything other than a clear-cut Cork victory is going to be a surprise.
Derry's capitulation against the champions was no surprise. In their first 13 matches in the league, the Ulstermen conceded 15 goals. In the next 13 they have conceded 34. Five teams have conceded fewer than 34 in the entire season.
Clearly something is not right in Derry and St Patrick's will fancy their chance of a victory at Brandwell.
Saints lost seven on the bounce but they were actually playing quite well and got the job done against Limerick last weekend.
Limerick were game against Pat's and could have taken at least a point, but Waterford are understandably odds-on at Markets Field, are Shamrock are to beat Sligo in the battle of the Rovers.
On Sunday, Dundalk host Bohemians, who have been the subject of a speculative punt, perhaps because the Lilywhites were in action against AEK Larnaca in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday.
Stephen Kenny will not countenance any complacency from the hosts, who may well start brightly and have the job done early.
In Division 1, it is hard to see an impressive UCD being troubled in Athlone. Back College on the Asian handicap to win by at least two with stakes returned if it is exactly two.
