Busy Selby may be vulnerable against talented Sam Craigie
China Championship hero could be jaded after Guangzhou effort
Eurosport 1, midday and 6pm Tuesday
Mark Selby consolidated his position as world number one with his China Championship title triumph on Sunday, but the busy Leicester cueman may be worth opposing in his European Masters opener.
Selby, a 10-9 victor over John Higgins in the Guangzhou decider, could hardly have asked for a tougher curtain-raiser in Belgium than a clash with Sam Craigie and the talented Geordie could be worth an interest with a start of 2.5 frames.
It’s best of seven frames in the early rounds in Lommel, so Selby would need to win four of the first five frames for punters to be thwarted and that may not come easy against a player of Craigie's potential.
He can be easy to overrate and he's also up against the best player in the world, but Craigie can also be superb when he's in the mood and the match may be closer than the oddsmakers think.
Scott Donaldson could continue his positive start to the season with a victory over Mark Davis. The Scot has been underrated by bookmakers in the last couple of seasons and it may not be long before he captures some silverware.
