T20 Blast quarter-final

Lancashire received a huge boost for their T20 Blast quarter-final clash at Kent when England agreed to release Jos Buttler and Keaton Jennings for the fixture and the Trent Bridge centurion could lead the way for the visitors.

Kent earned home status as they finished level with Somerset - second on net run-rate - at the top of the South Group but confirmation of Buttler's availability prompted a gamble on the Lightning which came as no surprise given his stellar exploits in the shortest form of the game.

The Spitfires were clear favourites on home turf but many firms now make this a pick 'em affair while Coral and Ladbrokes went a step further and cut Lancashire from 11-10 to 4-5.

Buttler clobbered 21 sixes in scoring 548 runs for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL this year and he has been in fine form with the bat for England in T20s, scoring 61, 69, 14 and 34 this summer.

The 27-year-old has replicated his scoring in red-ball cricket, registering a fine maiden Test century in tough circumstances on Tuesday as England went down against India in Nottingham.

A big innings from Buttler will propel Lancashire towards T20 Blast finals day and, with the England man likely to open the batting, quotes of 5-2 could underestimate his chances of playing a starring role.

India required just 17 balls on day five of the Third Test as they picked up the wicket of James Anderson to beat England by 203 runs. They trail 2-1 with two Tests remaining.

The tourists are a best-priced 5-1 to complete a remarkable comeback with victories at both the Rose Bowl and the Oval while England have drifted to 4-11 to take the series.

The fourth Test begins in Southampton next Thursday. The hosts are 11-10 for the victory with India 5-4 to level the series. The draw is a 5-1 chance.
