Brit basher Jorge Linares should retain world title

Comfortable points win looks likely

WBA World lightweight title
BoxNation, from 2.30am Saturday night

Brit basher Jorge Linares is a red-hot favourite to retain his world lightweight title against Mercito Gesta, and the only conundrum for punters seems to be whether or not the judges will be needed.

Linares is hoping to make it six successful title defences in a row, and has fended off challenges from Kevin Mitchell, Anthony Crolla (twice) and most recently Luke Campbell.

Campbell gave him the biggest scare - Hull's Olympic golden boy recovered well from an early knock down and was only denied by a split-decision - but Linares remains a class act and should be too good for Gesta.

Linares is no better than 1-25 to win the fight but it's even-money your choice whether it's by knockout or on points.

Gesta has not been stopped in 32 fights and has been operating at a decent level while Linares has a 59 per cent KO ratio, so this one could go the distance.
