The carrot of a fight with the winner of the Canelo v Golovkin has been dangled in front of Billy Joe Saunders and Willie Monroe Jnr, and the British fighter should seal a big-money date with a win at the Copper Box in London.

Saunders is well aware that this is his chance to make a lot of money from the sport and seems to have pulled himself together after a frustrating couple of years when at times it seemed things might have been slipping away from him.

He had the world at his feet after beating Chris Eubank jr in 2014 and won a world title from Andy Lee the following year, but for a variety of reasons he has fought only once since December 2015.

However, Saunders may have found the formula he needs under the expert guidance of new coach Dominic Ingle. Ingle has been delighted with his work ethic during their 12-week camp and if Saunders is in top condition he should have too much for Monroe.

Canelo v Golovkin

The American lost to Golovkin in six rounds in 2015 and seems to have been treading water since, fighting just twice.

Expect Monroe to start fast but if Saunders is on top of his game he should get the victory. The stats suggest he will win on points - he has won seven of his last nine on the scorecards - but he looks to have fresh motivation and he is capable of getting the stoppage.

Recommendation
B J Saunders by knockout
