Errol Spence jnr v Mikey Garcia: boxing tips, odds, betting & TV channel

IBF world welterweight title

Errol Spence Jr, Lennox Lewis and Mikey Garcia
1 of 1

TV: ITV4, 3am approx Saturday night

It's not often two genuine pound-for-pound top-ten boxers clash in the ring but that is exactly what will happen when Errol Spence jnr takes on Mikey Garcia at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The IBF welterweight title is on the line but the real prize is so much more. Spence is fifth in the Ring Magazine rankings and Garcia sixth, with both men boasting undefeated records. Someone's O has gotta go.

The betting has Spence as a clear favourite, but plenty of people think Garcia can win, and he has been backed to 3-1 from initial quotes of 4-1.

The main reason Garcia is such a big underdog is that he is stepping up two weight divisions - from 135lbs in his last fight against Robert Easter jnr for the WBC welterweight title last summer up to 147lbs against Spence.

Spence isn't a massive welterweight, but he carries explosive power - as Kell Brook found out in Sheffield a couple of years ago - and he is on an 11-fight KO streak.

But Garcia will be aware of his power and is unlikely to stand and trade big punches, and can use his excellent movement and footwork to stay out of trouble. He may not win the fight, but this one could go to the scorecards.
