Fight preview

All three judges scored the entertaining first fight between Mark Heffron and Denzel Bentley as a draw and another tight contest is expected in the rematch on Friday night at the BT Sport Studios in London.

However, it is a little surprising to see Bentley clear favourite and the prices on offer make outsider Mark Heffron an appealing bet.

The British middleweight title is on the line. It was vacated by Liam Williams, who inflicted the only defeat in Heffron's 27-fight professional career in 2018 and Kid Dynamite can put on an explosive performance.

Both fighters boast plenty of knockouts and possess fast hands, but they showed enough durability in the first fight to suggest this contest could go the distance as well.

Nine weeks ago at York Hall, Bentley scored a crucial knockdown in the second round, having caught Heffron off balance, and he had plenty of joy when countering, but Heffron was the aggressor and commanded the centre of the ring for much of the fight.

There were a lot of close rounds and a draw was a fair result, but Heffron hurt Bentley twice in the ninth round and applied pressure throughout. If he can replicate that he can edge it on the scorecards in this 12-round bout.

The Bethnal Green contest in September was the first time Bentley had been beyond seven rounds in his career and he will no doubt improve for that outing, but at times he was vulnerable on the back foot, especially when pressured into a corner by Heffron, and much will need to change if he is to justify odds-on favouritism.
