Match preview

Terence Crawford will put his WBO welterweight title and unbeaten record on the line when he takes on the toughest opponent of his career, Shawn Porter, in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Porter is a two-time former world champion and Showtime has only been beaten three times in his career, most recently in a thrilling split decision loss to Errol Spence Jr in 2019.

Crawford’s last bout saw him beat Kell Brook with a fourth-round knockout. Before that, the American registered knockout wins over Amir Khan and Egidijus Kavaliauskas.

Bud, as Crawford is known, is one of only six men ever to hold all four major world titles at once and has also won multiple world championships in three different weight classes.

However, he won’t have everything his own way against Porter, whose speciality is disrupting the rhythm of his opponent and trying to force the fight to take place on the inside.

Porter is also known for his stamina and the 34-year-old has never been knocked out, so it may play to side with Crawford taking this on the judges’ scorecards.

On home soil, Richard Riakporhe takes on Olanrewaju Durodola in the main event of the Boxxer card in London.

The up-and-coming cruiserweight Riakporhe is heavily fancied to take his record to 13-0 against the Nigerian Durodola.

Earlier on the card, the British light-heavyweight title is up for grabs as the unbeaten Dan Azeez faces the experienced cousin of Tyson Fury, Hosea Burton.

Beaten by Katie Taylor last time, Nathasha Jonas is aiming to bounce back against Lithuanian Vaida Masiokaite.
