Big-fight preview

Savannah Marshall defends her WBO middleweight title against Femkee Hermans on Saturday and it should be a comfortable night's work for the Hartlepool hitter.

Marshall is unbeaten in 11 professional fights, with nine of those victories coming inside the distance and she is one of the biggest punchers in the division.

Hermans has never been stopped in her 15-fight career, but she has come up short when challenging for a world title on three occasions. One of those defeats came against Claressa Shields, and there is a talk of an undisputed bout between Marshall and the American, if the Silent Assassin gets the job done here.

Marshall is far from a slugger. She is a skillful boxer and her combination punches can break down any opponent. Yes, Hermans went 12 rounds with Shields in 2018, but the Michigan fighter doesn’t carry the power of Marshall.

Backing Marshall to star and retain her WBO belt inside the first three rounds looks a good play at 5-2.
