Tributes pour in for Hatton

The world of sport is in shock today after British boxing legend Ricky Hatton was found dead at his home at the age of 46.

Hatton, known as The Hitman throughout his career, won 45 of his 48 professional fights and won world titles at both light-welterweight and welterweight.

Tributes from the boxing world and beyond poured in for Hatton on Sunday following the news of his death.

Amir Khan said Hatton was “one of Britain’s greatest boxers” while Tyson Fury said “there will only ever be one Ricky Hatton”.

Boxing results and highlights

Terence Crawford beat Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez - UD
Betting odds: Alvarez 4-7, Crawford 11-8, Draw 14-1.
Venue: Allegiant Stadium, Nevada

Terence Crawford made history on Saturday night with a stunning points victory over Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

Not only did Crawford take the Mexican's super-middleweight title, but he also became the first man in the modern era to hold undisputed titles in three weight divisions.

There was no doubting Crawford was a worthy winner, where all three judges scored the fight in his favour, and his unbeaten professional record now stands at 42-0.

Rumours suggested that he may retire after fighting Canelo but Crawford said following his victory that nothing was decided.

Callum Walsh beat Fernando Vargas Jr -  UD
Betting odds: Walsh 1-3, Vargas Jr 13-5 , Draw 14-1.
Venue: Allegiant Stadium, Nevada

Ireland's Callum Walsh extended his record to 15-0 on the Allegiant Stadium undercard, although his points win over fellow southpaw Fernando Vargas Jr wasn't entirely convincing and at times laboured.

Walsh, seen by many as the poster boy for UFC president Dana White's boxing venture, was adjudged a convincing winner - it was 100-90, 99-91 and 99-91 on the scorecards - but Vargas Jr emerged with plenty of credit.

Lewis Crocker beat Paddy Donovan - SD
Betting odds: Donovan 1-7, Crocker 9-2, Draw 16-1.
Venue: Windsor Park, Belfast

Lewis Crocker caused a 9-2 upset as he landed the vacant IBF welterweight title and silenced some doubters with a split-decision victory over Paddy Donovan in their rematch at Windsor Park.

Donovan was disqualified in March's first meeting having been on top, but Crocker proved his worth this time, twice knocking Donovan to the canvas.

Two of the judges scored the fight in Crocker's favour as he extended his unbeaten record to 22-0.

Molly McCann beat Kate Radomska - TKO
Betting odds: McCann 1-25, Radomska 12-1, Draw 20-1.
Venue: Windsor Park, Belfast

Molly McCann marked her professional debut on the Crocker vs Donovan undercard with an eye-catching TKO success over Kate Radomska.

Former UFC star McCann stopped her opponent in the sixth and final round, having dropped her with a strong right hand in the fifth, and there appears to be more to come from the Liverpudlian in this sphere.

David Allen profile

Age: 33
Record: 24-7-2, 19 wins by knockout
Weight: Heavyweight
Next fight: Arslanbek Makhmudov, October 11 at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield

The British heavyweight division continues to thrive and David Allen has been enjoying something of a career renaissance in 2025, gaining his revenge on Johnny Fisher in their rematch in May to land the WBA Intercontinental heavyweight title.

Allen had lost via split-decision to his fellow Englishman in December but stopped him in five rounds of their rematch at London’s Copper Box Arena.

Next up for Allen is meeting with Arslanbek Makhmudov of Russia in the headline event of Matchroom's Championship Boxing Night next month, when he will be eyeing a 25th professional win.

Nicknamed 'The White Rhino', Doncaster's Allen retired from the ring in 2020 before returning the following year and he has enjoyed a fine career, taking on fellow Brits Dillian Whyte, David Price and Frazer Clarke since making his debut in the pro ranks almost 13 years ago.
