O'Shaquie Foster vs Stephen Fulton Jr predictions

There’s boxing action all over the world this weekend with Jai Opetaia’s IBF world cruiserweight title defence against Huseyin Cinkara getting things started down under on Saturday afternoon.

Shabaz Masoud and Peter McGrail’s European super-bantamweight title contest headlines Saturday night's Monaco card, which also features Johnny Fisher and Pat McCormack.

When it comes to competitive contests and betting interest, the best bets can be found on a stacked card in San Antonio, Texas.

Janibek Alimkhanuly’s clash with Erislandy Lara is off, but Lamont Roach tackles Isaac Cruz for the vacant WBC interim light-welterweight title, while O'Shaquie Foster defends his WBC super-featherweight strap against Stephen Fulton Jr.

Foster lost his WBC belt in a split-decision loss to Robson Conceicao last year, but Ice Water swiftly recovered from that defeat to score a close success over Conceicao four months later.

The 32-year-old Texan is a technically sound performer, and his excellent defence makes him hard to hit.

On the flip side, he isn’t a busy fighter. He won’t be on the front foot and that could give Fulton a window to success.

Scooter stepped up from super-bantamweight to win the WBC featherweight title against Brandon Figueroa in February and the Philadelphia star is now moving up to the 130lb division to take on Foster.

That step up in weight is the chief concern for a fighter whose sole defeat in 24 professional bouts came against the great Naoya Inoue.

However, Foster doesn’t carry a great deal of power, and while he is an accurate puncher, only 12 of his 23 victories have come via a stoppage.

A close contest is anticipated in San Antonio, but there is enough in the price to think the aggression and superior punch output of Fulton can win the day.
