Michael Conlon v Jack Bateson preview
Michael Conlon will have a packed 3Arena crowd willing him to victory over Jack Bateson, but the Dublin support may not be enough to see the Belfast boxer home.
The 33-year-old has been a fringe world-level fighter, but there have been some heavy defeats in recent times and Conlon can be considered past his peak.
Irish Mick was stopped in the 12th round following an all-out war with Leigh Wood in 2022 and that was a gruelling contest.
Conlon’s corner then threw in the towel when the 33-year-old was dropped by a Luis Alberto Lopez uppercut in 2023. Jordan Gill had the Belfast boxer on the canvas in round two, before a barrage of punches saw the referee stop the contest in the seventh.

The 33-year-old has competed in only 22 professional contests, which hasn’t put a huge amount of miles on the clock, but those three heavy defeats have come in the last three years and Conlon may not have much left to give.
Bateson looks a good operator and the speed and movement of the Leeds fighter could prove the difference.
A clash with Conlon rates as the toughest test of Bateson’s career on paper, but the 31-year-old is an unexposed performer and there is enough in the price to chance the 31-year-old in Dublin.
On the undercard, Charlie Edwards is a strong jolly when he returns at super-flyweight to take on Salvador Juarez.
