Big fight preview

Kid Galahad and James Dickens first stepped into the ring together nearly eight years ago and now they are ready to square-off again for the vacant IBF world featherweight title.

Galahad has been beaten just once in his 28-fight professional career and that single reversal was a split-decision defeat to Josh Warrington.

That was the first time the Sheffield star had mixed it at world level and he certainly showed that he is up to the required standard.

Dickens, meanwhile, is in the form of his life after wins over Leigh Wood and Ryan Walsh last year.

Wood has certainly paid Jazza a huge compliment by winning the WBA belt last week, the Merseyside man's pressure and work rate proving too much for those slick boxers.

However, Galahad gives the impression that he could be a cut above in this division and his awkward and elusive style may provide Dickens with a puzzle that he cannot solve.

Dickens isn't going to be a difficult target to find either and Galahad is tough enough to deal with whatever is sent his way.

Expect the Sheffield star to slowly, pick Dickens apart and score a repeat of his 2013 stoppage victory in the second half of the bout.

There's an interesting ten-round women's fight on the undercard between Ebanie Bridges and Bec Connolly.

Bridges is rated a 1-20 shot for this contest and while she is certainly the most likely winner, that price seems absurdly short.

The Blonde Bomber was involved in an almighty scrap against Shannon Courtenay last time out, and while the Aussie showed her toughness and durability in that fight, she was easy to hit and didn’t carry a great deal of power.

Connolly brings a losing record to the ring, but those defeats have come against top-level performers such as Natasha Jonas, Ellie Scotney and Terri Harper.

Lady Luck doesn't possess the skills of Courtenay, but she is tough and Bridges isn't getting anywhere near Jonas or Harper.

Bridges is clearly the classier opponent but the 11-1 on offer about Connolly is far too tempting to ignore.

There’s plenty of potential on show in the heavyweight division with Johnny Fisher, Alen Babic and Fabio Wardley all in action.
