Fabio Wardley vs Justis Huni prediction

Fabio Wardley returns to the ring on Saturday night for the first time since his sensational first-round knockout win against Frazer Clarke with a hometown bout against Justis Huni.

Wardley was due to take on Jarrell Miller but the American withdrew due to injury, and unbeaten Huni looks a very different kind of test.

The Australian is a slick operator and should pose a few problems for the Ipswich man at Portman Road. However, Wardley is the favourite and this is a fight he cannot afford to lose if he is to climb the rankings and potentially challenge for a world title – and with home advantage he should be able to make his power count.

Huni is 12-0 and enjoyed an impressive amateur career before moving into the professional ranks. The Brisbane native has a few decent names on his record, including former Daniel Dubois opponent Kevin Lerena and Andrew Tabiti, but he’s not been in a match-up with anyone with the kind of power that Wardley possesses and ultimately that should prove the difference.

The 26-year-old is probably the more complete fighter of the two in terms of technique and ability, but the explosive nature of Wardley’s approach may be too much for Huni to handle, particularly if he hasn’t got enough power himself to keep Wardley honest.

Huni may enjoy some success in the earlier rounds but at some point Wardley can launch an attack that should end this contest and the Ipswich man can win without needing the judges on Saturday.

There isn’t much of interest on the Wardley vs Huni undercard from a betting angle but overnight in the States backing a Keyshawn Davis stoppage against Edwin De Los Santos looks a strong play. Davis has stopped his last two opponents inside four rounds, while De Los Santos has been out of the ring for more than a year and a half and should be outclassed by the WBO lightweight champion.
