Deontay Wilder returns to the ring after a pair of heavy defeats against Tyson Fury to take on Robert Helenius in New York.
Wilder remains the biggest puncher in heavyweight boxing and 41 of the Bronze Bomber’s 42 professional victories have come by stoppage. However, there are questions for the Alabama slammer to answer. Those were two bruising and tank-emptying defeats to Fury, it’s been over a year since Wilder was last in the ring and the American is now 36 years old.
Of course, the Bronze Bomber is a 1-7 shot to win this fight and he is levels above Helenius, but a 2019 victory over Luis Ortiz is the last triumph on Wilder’s card.
Helenius has to be given plenty of credit for a pair of recent stoppage victories over the highly-rated and previously unbeaten Adam Kownacki, and the Nordic Nightmare has also been the distance with British pair Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora.
Wilder is likely to prove too good in Brooklyn, but it may not be as comfortable as the prices suggest and backing the bout to go over 4.5 rounds looks the bet.
