Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn 2: Tale of the tape, key stats and fight breakdown for rematch
Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn face off again at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, November 15. Get insights on both fighters ahead of their highly anticipated rematch
Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will meet in an instant rematch on Saturday, November 15, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in another instalment of this family rivalry.
Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn met twice in the early 1990s, with Eubank Sr winning the first meeting before a draw in their last fight three years later. After Chris Eubank Jr’s unanimous decision victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the score now reads 2-0 to the Eubanks so restoring some pride will be at the forefront of Benn’s mind.
The rematch takes place at the same venue as their first bout in what may prove to be their last head-to-head battle. Both men have expressed a desire to challenge for titles in their weight classes, although a close win for Benn or a draw would at least leave open the possibility of concluding a trilogy that their fathers never managed
The first fight took place at the middleweight limit of 160lbs, as Benn jumped up from welterweight to face his rival Eubank Jr, who agreed to a rehydration clause allowing him to gain no more than 10lbs above the limit for fight night. The same rules are in place for this second bout.
There were fears going into the first clash that the occasion may overshadow the fight itself but those concerns proved to be unfounded as the two men served up an epic encounter. Both men appeared hurt at various stages but Eubank Jr’s size and experience made the difference as he picked up a unanimous decision victory, winning 116-112 on all three scorecards.
That result and the margin of victory didn’t necessarily reflect the fight as most of the rounds were close. Eubank Jr was a deserved winner but the contest was a close one and Benn will feel he has a chance of exacting some revenge this Saturday.
The build-up to the first fight was intense as both men traded barbs. Eubank Jr slapped Benn with an egg in reference to Benn’s suspension for testing positive for a banned substance previously, while Benn continually made jibes after his opponent’s relationship with his father.
It remained unclear until fight night as to whether or not Eubank Sr would even be in attendance but ultimately he was there to support his son, and both fighters were joined by their fathers for the ringwalks. Matching that kind of pre-fight drama for November’s rematch seems unlikely, but given the entertainment these two provided in the ring in April this rematch is highly anticipated regardless.

Chris Eubank Jr stats and facts
Chris Eubank Jr has put together a 35-3 record since making his debut in 2011, with 25 wins via stoppage and one of his losses coming inside the distance.
The 36-year-old’s first loss came in 2014 when he was on the wrong side of a split decision defeat to Billy Joe Saunders when challenging for the British, Commonwealth and European middleweight titles.
After that defeat, Eubank Jr embarked on a rebuild and he managed to claim the British title two years later before picking up the IBO middleweight strap with a win over Renold Quinlan.
He then claimed eye-catching wins over Arthur Abraham and Avni Yildirim before suffering a second defeat, a one-sided decision loss to George Groves.
Eubank Jr added James DeGale and Liam Williams to his list of wins before being stopped for the first time by Liam Smith, meaning all of his losses have come against either future, current or former world title holders. The Brighton native would instantly avenge that loss with a stoppage of his own in a rematch nine months later in September 2023.
Conor Benn stats and facts
Conor Benn’s loss in the first fight ended his unbeaten record and he goes into the rematch with a 23-1 record, with 14 knockouts.
Despite the defeat, the Destroyer’s display in that bout was perhaps a career-best as he was moving up in weight and was previously untested at world level.
Benn made his debut in 2016 and his first serious test came 18 months later when he survived two first round knockdowns to outpoint Cedrick Peynaud in 2017. The pair would meet again the following year, with Benn winning comfortably on points.
The 29-year-old secured wins over Samuel Vargas, Chris Algieri and Chris van Heerden and began to call out Eubank Jr at regular intervals. The pair had been due to meet in October of 2022 but Benn tested positive for the banned substance clomifene and was handed a suspension.
He fought just twice between his win over Van Heerden and his first fight with Eubank Jr but showed no signs of ring rust in that points defeat, and after his first taste of a huge occasion against an elite opponent he should be better prepared for the rematch than he was for April’s first meeting.
